NBA fantasy basketball Week of Nov 5–11, 2026: players to start, matchups to target and injury watch
NBA Audit · Week of Nov 5–11, 2026 · Fantasy
If you only make one move this week, make it a bet on Atlanta. The Hawks visit Washington with one of the best matchup scores on the schedule at 8.3, and the Wizards allow 109.7 points a game. Jalen Johnson, who averages 8.9 rebounds, is the Hawks player I'd most want in my lineup. On the other side of the ledger, be honest with yourself about the Charlotte and New York players you've been starting on reputation. Their matchups are the two worst on the board this week.
Matchups to target
Start with Minnesota at Houston, which carries the biggest matchup score of the week at 9.7. The Rockets allow 108.1 points a game, which isn't a soft number on its face, so this is about how the Timberwolves' offense stacks up rather than a defense that's falling apart. I have no individual player lines for Minnesota here, so treat it as a team-level green light. If you own a Timberwolves starter you were thinking of benching, don't.
Atlanta's trip to Washington is the cleaner story, and it's why Johnson is my headliner. The Cavaliers at Oklahoma City (7.0 against a Thunder defense allowing 111.6) and the Raptors at Denver (6.9, with the Nuggets allowing 115) round out the teams worth leaning on.
Houston shows up on the list too. At home against Minnesota, the Rockets rate at 7.9, and the Timberwolves allow 112.1. That makes this a game where both offenses have reason to feel good. Fantasy managers love that.
Then there's Memphis at home against Indiana. The Pacers allow 116.5 and the matchup score is 4.5. It's not a headline number, but it's a friendly spot for Ty Jerome, who averages 23.1 points, and for C. Boozer, who grabs 10.3 rebounds. Both belong in your lineup without hesitation.
Players in form
I'm using "in form" loosely here, since what we have is season-long production plus this week's matchup. That's still a useful combination.
Tyrese Maxey is the best example. He averages 25.2 points and travels to Detroit with a matchup score of 6.8. The Pistons allow only 104.9 points a game, so the raw number looks stingy, but the matchup rating still tilts toward Philadelphia. I'd start him without a second thought. His teammate LeBron James, averaging 7 assists, gets the same 6.8 matchup and is a fine play in assist-heavy formats.
Detroit's Cade Cunningham, at 6.7 assists, is home against Philadelphia with a 4.2 score. The Sixers allow 110.1, and I like him as a steady, no-drama starter.
Memphis has more to offer than the home duo. At home the Grizzlies rate well, but Indiana's pieces also have a decent road draw. Tyrese Haliburton (7.6 assists) and Ivica Zubac (8.4 rebounds) visit a Memphis team that allows 110.4, with a score of 4.1. That's a small positive, and with those production numbers I'm comfortable starting both.
In Chicago, C. Wilson (21.6 points) and Josh Giddey (7.2 assists) go to New York with a 3.4 score, and the Knicks allow 113.1. It's a modest edge, but both have the production to justify trusting them. If you've got Wilson on the bench, this is a week to get him in.
Injury watch
The injury report came back clean. There are no listed injuries for any team or player in this week's picture, so I don't have a health-based reason to downgrade or upgrade anyone. That could change before tip-off, so check your lineups again before each game, but for now this section is blissfully quiet. Make your decisions on matchups and production, which is where the real separation is this week.
Proceed with caution
Start with Charlotte, because the Hornets have the worst matchup score of the week at -17.7. They travel to Brooklyn, and the Nets allow 114.8 points a game. That allowed number isn't scary, which is exactly why this one can sneak up on you. Brandon Miller averages 21.5 points and Moussa Diabate pulls down 8.7 rebounds. I'm not telling you to bench them if they're core pieces, but I wouldn't trust them as your ceiling play, and I'd have a backup ready.
New York is almost as concerning. The Knicks host Chicago with a score of -16.7, even though the Bulls allow 123 points a game. On paper that looks like a dream. The matchup score says otherwise, and I'd treat that gap as a warning. Jalen Brunson (21.5 points) and Karl-Anthony Towns (11.5 rebounds) are too good to sit outright. Just temper expectations and avoid building your week around them.
Smaller cautions apply elsewhere. Oklahoma City hosts Cleveland at -8.7, and Utah visits New Orleans at -7.3, so no player on those teams is a comfortable start unless your roster is thin.
Jayson Tatum is the interesting one. He averages 25.7 points and 7.2 assists, and Boston hosts a Milwaukee team allowing 122.3. The matchup score is a mild -3.1, so I'm not benching him. I'd just stop short of calling it a smash spot.
Washington's duo sits in the same neighborhood. Anthony Davis (9.3 rebounds) and Trae Young (9.1 assists) host Atlanta at -4.4, with the Hawks allowing 115.2. They're startable, but they belong to the same game where Johnson is my favorite play, and that tells you which side of the matchup I'd rather be on.
