Miami Heat vs Golden State Warriors recap: final score and what we learned (Week of Nov 6–7, 2026)
NBA Audit · Week of Nov 6–7, 2026 · Game recap
The Golden State Warriors beat the Miami Heat 120-100, and it was never the shootout the Heat needed. Our preview called this a straight argument between a good offense and a steadier defense. The steadier defense won it by 20.
That matters beyond one result. Miami's whole identity is scoring, and when that gets shut down there is very little underneath to fall back on. Golden State got the kind of night that makes a team look like it knows exactly what it is.
The result
The shooting gap tells most of the story. Golden State made 42 of 80 from the field, 53 percent. Miami made 35 of 86, 41 percent. The Heat also took more shots and still finished 20 points short, which is a rough way to lose.
The three-point line pushed it further apart. The Warriors hit 16 of 41, 39 percent. Miami went 13 of 44, 30 percent. Miami launched more and got less back.
Golden State also moved the ball better, with 36 assists to Miami's 27, and they took the ball away more often, 11 steals to 8. At the line they were 20 of 25 against Miami's 17 of 23. Both teams committed 22 fouls, so nobody was bailed out by the whistle.
The Heat did win one category. They grabbed 9 offensive rebounds to Golden State's 7. Golden State still finished with 44 total rebounds to Miami's 39, so even that edge didn't leave a mark on the result.
How our preview held up
Our pick was Golden State, and that was right. The reasoning mostly held up too, though the game was far less tense than we expected.
We said Miami's offense was the real thing, averaging 121.3 points a game, and that this wasn't a walkover. The Heat scored 100. Golden State's steadier defense did the job we thought it could, and Miami's offense never got going.
We also flagged an uncomfortable matchup for the Warriors, whose 115.9-point average looked light against the Heat's defense. Golden State scored 120. We were right to take the Warriors, but we undersold their offense and probably oversold how dangerous Miami's would be.
I can't tell you how the individual matchups we highlighted played out, because we only have team-level numbers. Our preview leaned on Giannis Antetokounmpo and Davion Mitchell driving the Heat's offense, and we can say only that the team as a whole fell well short of its usual output. The Warriors' 36 assists fit the idea that their offense runs through passing, but I won't pin that on any one player.
We said Golden State didn't need a shootout, just a game at a pace they controlled. The shooting numbers say they got something close to that.
What it means
Don't overreact to one game. It's still one night, and Miami's scoring has been legitimate over a longer stretch. But the picture is clear. When the Heat's shots don't fall, especially from three, their defensive weakness is exposed, and the 124.2 points they allow per game is a heavy weight to carry.
For Golden State, this is a good template. Efficient shooting, shared scoring and a defense that makes opponents miss is a formula built to last, not one that depends on a hot streak. The Warriors showed they can win comfortably, and they didn't need to win ugly.
Miami's task is simpler to describe than to fix. A team this reliant on its offense needs it to travel, and on this night it didn't.
