Baltimore Ravens vs Buffalo Bills recap: final score and what we learned (2026 Week 8)
NFL Audit · 2026 Week 8 · Game recap
The Buffalo Bills didn't just beat the Baltimore Ravens. They flattened them, 36–10, and turned what looked like a test of Baltimore's resilience into a verdict. A week after a 13-35 loss to Cincinnati, the Ravens needed an answer on the road. They got a second, louder question mark.
The result
The final score was lopsided, and the team stats say it wasn't a fluke. Buffalo piled up 426 yards on 76 plays at 5.6 yards per play. Baltimore finished with 144 yards on 49 plays, 2.9 per snap. The first-down count was 24 to 10. Both teams had 13 drives, but only one of them kept making something of its possessions.
The passing game is where this got ugly for Baltimore. Buffalo threw for 280 yards at 8 yards per pass. The Ravens managed 68 through the air at 2.3 per pass. That's the gap between an offense that can stress a defense and one that can't get out of its own way.
The ground game was a different story. Buffalo ran 41 times for 146 yards, 3.6 per carry. Baltimore ran 19 times for 76 yards, 4 per carry, so the Ravens were actually a touch more efficient per rush. They just never had the volume, and with their passing attack stalled, there wasn't much to build around.
Turnovers weren't the whole story, but they didn't help Baltimore. The Ravens gave it away 3 times, including 2 lost fumbles and an interception. Buffalo had 2 turnovers of its own, 1 interception and 1 lost fumble, and still won comfortably.
How our preview held up
We didn't make a pick, but the read was clear: Buffalo was the stronger side. The Bills had the better scoring rate, the friendlier matchup numbers and the momentum from their 33-30 win. That held up. The preview rated Buffalo's offense at 9 against Baltimore's defense and Baltimore's offense at -4.4 against Buffalo's defense. On this day, the second number looked generous.
Where we got it wrong was the idea of a shootout. We flagged Buffalo's defense, which allowed 28.5 points per game coming in, as a real vulnerability and said a sharp Baltimore offense could drag the Bills into a high-scoring game. That never happened. The Ravens got 10 points and 144 yards. We also leaned on Tyler Huntley's big passing numbers and Zay Flowers as the focal point of that attack. A team that finished with 68 passing yards didn't resemble that profile.
We also said the Ravens needed to be far sharper than they were against Cincinnati. They weren't. The preview flagged Lamar Jackson's ankle as the biggest question mark, but we can't say from here how much it shaped this result.
What it means
For Buffalo, this is the cleaner kind of win. The Bills scored 32.8 points per game coming in, and a 36-point day shows that offense can work without a track meet. The earlier question was whether it could hold up when the opponent isn't helping, and this was a strong answer. Holding Baltimore to 144 yards also eases some worry about a defense that had been leaking points.
For Baltimore, the picture is bleaker. Before this game, the season numbers looked middling rather than alarming, at 24.1 points scored and 23.9 allowed per game. Two straight lopsided losses make it hard to keep calling the Cincinnati game an outlier. This looks like a team with a real problem, and the passing game is where it starts. Until the Ravens find answers there, a 26-point loss will be the evidence everyone points to.
